22nd June 2006

The Queensland Government continues to provide vegetation management aid to landholders and clearing contractors, Natural Resources Minister, Henry Palaszczuk, said.

Mr Palaszczuk said the level of enterprise assistance provided by the Queensland Government for landholders and clearing contractors under vegetation management help continued to increase dramatically.

“To date, $18.3 million has been allocated to 212 applicants for the grants of up to $100,000,” Mr Palaszczuk said.

“This means almost $18 million in assistance has been paid this financial year. A series of seminars have been held by the QRAA and the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Water.”

“Enterprise Assistance is available to help producers adjust their operations where implementation of vegetation management legislation affects the potential viability of their farming enterprise.”

“Enterprise Assistance will enable successful applicants to build up or develop your farm business to achieve long term viability and sustainability.”

Further information on the assistance is available from QRAA at www.qraa.qld.gov.au or 1800 623 946.
