2016 Conference Charters Towers
Please make an effort to get to the Conference at the World Theatre, Charters Towers on June 10. There are some important current issues that will be addressed at this year’s conference. PRA is very much a grassroots organisation that responds to our members concerns and seeks answers through the pillars of science and law. We have experts in both fields giving presentations this year as well as landowners telling their stories.
Also attached is the conference poster which you can print out and post on your local community notice board.
Chartering a coach to Charters
To help southern Qld members make it to Charters Towers the board thought of chartering a coach to save what is one very long drive if done in a day. We sought quotes from a company to leave Chinchilla and then travel via Roma – Rolleston – Emerald – Clermont – Charters Towers and pick up people along the way. The quote has come in on the high end of expectations. It is still doable to charge a rate less than what it would cost you to drive; only if we can we can near fill the coach. It won’t be an option if half-filled or less.
If you want to take up this option please reply ASAP. If we haven’t got a response by early next week the idea will have to be canned.
Every year we have expected our north Qld members to come south; it shouldn’t be too much to head north for once.
Vegetation Management Reinstatement Hearings
The hearings have already been to Cairns, Townsville and Emerald. They have been well attended by rural landowners. There will be five more hearings in southern Qld as listed below. The PRA board encourages you to attend one of these hearings. Packed room give politicians a very clear message that the issue is of great concern to a great number of people.
